AUSTRALIAN high-energy, thermal coal export earnings and volumes are running at record rates on the back of strong Asian power station demand. While it is early days, the July 2018 revenue figure is 31 per cent up on July 2017.
EXPORT volumes rose 10 per cent to a record 19.87 million tonnes, representing an annual rate of 238 million tonnes.
FEDERAL Resources Minister Matt Canavan said the figures backed up previous expectations that Australia’s high-energy coal would be in demand from Asia’s growing coal-fired power sector as it chased better air quality and lower emissions.
THE strong thermal coal exports come as combined exports of east coast thermal coal, used to generate electricity, and coking coal, used to make steel, overtake West Australian exports of iron ore as the nation’s top export.
ACCORDING to the ABS data, July’s combined coal exports beat iron ore for the third straight month, coming in at $5.58bn, compared to iron ore’s $4.74bn.
CHINESE coal-fired power generation was up 7.3 per cent in the first seven months of this year, from a year earlier.
AND Australia’s higher-quality coal, in terms of energy content, is being favoured over domestic mines and import competitors such as Indonesia as China tries to combat air pollution.
THE strength in coal prices has favoured those prepared to invest against a growing campaign and activism against thermal coal.
MEANWHILE, in Australia, global warming theory-obsessed politicians of both major parties and persuasions are giving up the countries once prized economic advantage of having cheap, reliable energy, by decommissioning and blowing up their last remaining coal-fired power plants. AUSTRALIA’S original inhabitants may have died-off during a 1500-year-long ‘mega drough’, new research suggests.

Researchers investigating rapid climate change in the Kimberley region found the intense drought coincided with the disappearance of a pre-Aboriginal style of rock paintings about 7000 years ago.
Ancient rock art from the region is divided into two distinctive styles: Gwion and Wandjina.
The Gwion rock-art style lasted some 10,000 years before the final image was painted. Wandjina paintings only appeared about 4000 years ago.
“The likely reason for the demise of the Gwion artists was a mega-drought spanning approximately 1500 years, brought on by changing climate conditions that caused the collapse of the Australian summer monsoon,” says associate professor Hamish McGowan of the University of Queensland’s School of Geography.

The study found the plant density and land surface had changed at this time, combining with increased dust in the air. The effect was the failure of monsoon rains – peaking about 5500 years ago.
“This confirms that pre-historic aboriginal cultures experienced catastrophic upheaval due to rapid natural climate variability,” he said.
“This is contrary to the conventional view that Australian Aboriginals lived a highly sustainable hunter-gatherer existence in which their knowledge of the landscape meant they adapted to climate variability with little impact.”
Wandjina painters appear to have only moved into the area after the climate again became more favourable about 4000 years ago.
The report, published in the American Geophysical Union Journal, was compiled by researchers from the University of Queensland, Central Queensland University and Wollongong University.

The Paris Accord is based on fraud. Carbon Dioxide or CO2 is essential for all life on earth. Without it we are all extinct.
There is nothing unusual happing with the globe’s temperatures. No unusual warming.
Our interglacial warm period peaked 8,000 years ago and we are cooling. We’ve come to the end of this interglacial and are about to enter the next ice age. Humans can do nothing to stop that.
The globe has no temperature control knob, it is impossible for humans to control the globe’s temperature.
CO2 does not produce warming. There’s not enough of it to do anything.
It is warming that produces CO2. It is impossible for the cause to be the effect.
CO2 has lagged temperature by 1,000 years for the past 1 mil years and it has never stopped the earth from entering an ice age, even when it was 4,000 ppm.
CO2 is the gas of life. We need more not less of it and we should be regulating for more not less emissions. It is needed to grow our food crops.
Paris is based on IPCC reports. The IPCC rely on their GCM models. None of the models rely on past climate history but rather a mathematical theory based on refuted, negated, fake and fraudulent science. They all incorporate:
A “human fingerprint” or THS (Tropical Hot Spot) on the earth’s climate that doesn’t exist. IPCC’s AR2 report was fraudulently altered to remove scientific reports that were negative of their GHE definition;
Lewis Fry Richardson’s flawed atmospheric model equation;
Michael Mann’s fraudulent hockey stick graph in AR3;
Arrhenius’ flawed hypothesis of the greenhouse effect; Arrhenius invented heat from nothing.
The multiplier effect of water vapor feedback. The flawed CO2 increases water vapor hypothesis based on Arrhenius and the Charney report; From observations, water vapor is decreasing.
A corrupted peer review process.

While the COP23 climate conference is going on in Bon this week, there has been renewed wailing and gnashing of teeth over President Trump’s withdraw from the 2015 Paris Climate Accord this past summer.
