Renewables Battery ‘Boom’: Exploding Mega-Storage System Generates Fireball & Toxic Lithium Plume in BelgiumPosted: November 18, 2017
“CLEAN GREEN” energy update…
As soon as ‘Joe Public’ worked out that the idea of running on sunshine and breezes was so much childish nonsense, renewables rent-seekers started peddling an even greater myth: that mega-batteries would store ‘free and abundant’ wind and solar power, whenever the sun was up and the wind was blowing (just right).
Then, the myth continues, at absolutely zero cost to power consumers, giant grid-scale batteries would lovingly release groovy ‘green’ power as and when businesses and households needed it.
The zealot’s argument runs that – if only fossil fuel junkies and evil climate deniers would get out of the way – a few million mega-batteries would allow power consumers, hungry for ‘green’ virtue, to finally plug in and turn on to the ‘fuels of the future’.
So much for the hype.

“Climate policy has almost nothing to do anymore with environmental protection, says the German economist and IPCC official Ottmar Edenhofer. The next world climate summit in Cancun is actually an economy summit during which the distribution of the world’s resources will be negotiated.”

Protesters Jeer as Trump Team Promotes Coal at U.N. Climate Talks
By Lisa Friedman and Brad Plumer
Nov. 13, 2017
BONN, Germany — The Trump administration made its debut at a United Nations conference on climate change on Monday by giving a full-throated defense of fossil fuels and nuclear energy as answers to driving down global greenhouse gas emissions.
The forum — the only official appearance by the United States delegation during the annual two-week climate gathering of nearly 200 nations — illustrated how sharply the administration’s views are at odds with those of many key participants in the climate negotiations.
George D. Banks, special adviser to President Trump on international energy issues, led a panel with top American energy executives. “Without question, fossil fuels will continue to be used, and we would argue that it’s in the global interest to make sure when…

“One justification put up by the wind industry for the social and economic chaos caused by spiralling power costs was the claim that investment in wind power would create a “new” economy with millions of groovy “green” jobs.
True it was that Germany saw an increase in renewables related employment – the bulk of it in the development and manufacture of solar panels – but all of it was built on a raft of taxpayer and power consumer subsidies: it was – therefore – unsustainable.
Any job that relies on a subsidy results in a loss of employment elsewhere in the economy. In Germany, the subsidies for “green” jobs are paid for in rocketing power prices, which impacts on the profitability and competitiveness of all businesses and industries.” – STT August 2014
THE writings been on the wall for sometime now. Green central planning like economic planning of failed socialist regimes gone by is doomed for failure. Market distorting policies to pick winners only works until the money runs out. And err..the (public’s) money ran out a while back.
The wind industry is little more than the most recent and elaborate effort to fleece gullible investors, in a list that dates back to “corporate investment classics”, like the South-Sea Bubble and Dutch tulip mania.
In the wind industry, the scam is all about pitching bogus projected returns (based on overblown wind “forecasts”) (see our posts here and here and here and here); claiming that wind turbines will run for 25 years, without the need for so much as an oil change (see our posts here and here and here); and telling investors that massive government mandated subsidy schemes will outlast religion (see our posts here and here and here).
Now that the subsidies are drying up across Europe, solar panel and wind turbine makers are feeling the pinch, with tens of thousands of those groovy ‘green’ jobs already gone, or about to face the axe.

ONE of my favourite pieces of climate propaganda trotted out by the climate crisis industry is the coordinated line, “China, leading the world in renewable energy penetration…rest of the world will be left behind blah blah..”
UNRELIABLES are certainly a “bit-player” in China at best. I suspect there’s more green-washing than green-energy going on in the red state.
By Paul Homewood
Further to the recent Global Carbon Project report, which revealed that CO2 emissions were on the rise again in China this year, it is worth looking at what the China Energy Portal has to say. Although they are an independent outfit, they say that all of their data comes from governmental websites, and I have found them reliable in the past.
Below is their YTD summary of electricity generation, showing how thermal has dominated the increase in total generation. Wind and solar barely figure at all.
[Note graph is Q3 2017 year to date versus Q3 2016 year to date. *Thermal includes coal, gas, oil, and biomass]
Based on these increases, we can project the outturn numbers for 2017 as a whole. Wind and solar would increase their contribution from 5.1% to 5.9% of the electricity mix.
While China’s demand for electricity continues to rise at…

HOW long does it take people to draw such obvious conclusions? Or, are they simply afraid of being labeled a “denier”?
‘The donkey goes on to the ice until it breaks’ – German proverb [image credit: evwind.es]
Debatable claim in the headline, but the German ‘energy transition’ has certainly hurt electricity consumers as prices have shot up in the last decade, with fortunes being wasted on vain attempts to tweak the climate system.
As Bonn this week hosts the COP23 climate talks, a new report claims that Germany’s Energiewende programme “has made things worse for the climate”, reports PEI.
It says it has done this “by shutting down nuclear capacity and locking in dependency on coal for decades, despite hundreds of billions in investments and subsidy-schemes”.

AS long as it feels good, and someone else pays for it, right?

The Queensland Premier, Annastacia Palasczcuk, was promoting green energy at the Clare Solar Farm. Resources Minister Matt Canavan calculates the astonishing waste: “The Clare Solar Farm stands to get something like $340 million in subsidies over the next 13 years for 5 jobs! That works out at $60 million a job.”
The Queensland Premier was at the Clare Solar Farm on Sunday promoting renewables jobs. Here are a few facts about the Clare Solar Farm.
1. The Clare Solar Farm once operational will employ “up to around 5 people” according to their website.
2. The Clare Solar Farm stands to get something like $340 million in subsidies over the next 13 years (paid through by higher power bills) for 5 jobs! That works out at $60 million a job.
3. The Clare Solar Farm is owned by a Saudi billionaire, Mohammed Abdul Latif…

Science proves kids are bad for Earth. Morality suggests we stop having them.
We need to stop pretending kids don’t have environmental and ethical consequences.
by Travis Rieder / Nov.15.2017 / 7:17 PM ET
A startling and honestly distressing view is beginning to receive serious consideration in both academic and popular discussions of climate change ethics. According to this view, having a child is a major contributor to climate change. The logical takeaway here is that everyone on Earth ought to consider having fewer children.
Although culturally controversial, the scientific half of this position is fairly well-established. Several years ago, scientists showed that having a child, especially for the world’s wealthy, is one of the worst things…

“SEVERAL thousand wind turbines in Germany are likely to be closed down in the next decade because they will no longer receive any subsidies. “If electricity prices do not rise over the next decade, only a few plants will survive on the market without subsidies,” says an analysis by the Berlin-based consulting firm Energy Brainpool.”
“ON another note, the Kiel, German-based Kieler Nachrichten (KN) reports: “Thousands of wind turbines will be supposedly dismantled over the coming decade because the state subsidies will run out”.

The Financial Times is disappointed that hitting the Paris targets is looking even less likely, thanks to economic growth driving a rise in CO2 emissions.

Paris targets under threat as forecast 2% rise follows three years of zero growth
NOVEMBER 13, 2017 Tobias Buck in Berlin and Lucy Hornby in Beijing 58 comments Stronger Chinese economic growth will push global greenhouse gas emissions to a record high in 2017 after remaining flat for three years, dashing tentative hopes of a turning point in the world’s efforts to curb climate change.
A new report by the Global Carbon Project, an international research consortium, predicts that carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels and industry will rise 2 per cent this year. The report was released at…
